I am Awais, a 17-year-old student from Chunian, currently in 11th grade. I love art and sports, but for the past six years, I’ve also been living with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
I was diagnosed in 2020, when I was only 11. Before that, I felt weak and lost a lot of weight. A long fever took me to the hospital, and after tests, my life changed. Diabetes had become part of my journey. It was a difficult time, my family was worried, and we didn’t know what would happen next. .
But in the silence of COVID days, I found strength I didn’t know I had. With my family standing beside me, I made a choice: I would not let diabetes break me. I would rise with it. I didn’t cry, I stood strong, held onto hope, and started again. .
Life tested me in many ways. My mother, being a single parent, worked tirelessly to support me. My aunt and uncle stood by us when we needed help the most. When I went back to school, I faced bullying, but instead of letting it bring me down, it made me stronger. Yes, there are still hard days when my blood glucose levels affect my routine, but I have learned not to give up.
Joining Meethi Zindagi changed everything for me. I learned how to take control of my health, how to balance my food, insulin, and daily life. But more than that, I found a family that understands me. I found courage, confidence, and a reason to keep moving forward.
Today, I don’t see diabetes as something that holds me back. I see it as something that taught me strength.
My message:
Trust Allah. Trust yourself. Take care of your health every day. And never let difficulties decide your future.
