The Global Parliamentary Diabetes Advocacy Forum in Malta

November 14, 2025

Uniting global leaders for improving diabetes advocacy and care, at this insightful Parliamentary Advocacy Forum, held by Parlimentarians for Diabetes Global Network in Malta. The Forum brought together Members of Parliament, health experts, and advocates from around the globe, urging policmakers to legislate and find solutions to the problems faced by people living with diabetes.
Former UK Prime Minister Theresa May shared her personal type 1 diabetes journey, highlighting how tools like continuous glucose monitoring have transformed care and why parliaments must step up to improve access to these technologies worldwide.
Meethi Zindagi's Executive Director, Sana Ajmal (Ph.D, CDE), who is also the Secretary General of Parliamentarians for diabetes Global Network, led this forum, guiding the discussion on technology innovation and equity in diabetes care. She called for “A global cooperation mechanism between governments to improve access to insulin and diabetes technology in low and middle-income countries.”
In this picture, she is spotted sitting next to Baroness May (Theresa May) in the Maltese Parliament.

We sincerely hope that insights gained here will be turned into meaningful action to ensure equitable access to life-saving diabetes medication and technologies and quality healthcare for everyone living with diabetes.
