Introduction
To mark World Diabetes Day 2025, Meethi Zindagi organized “Ride for Insulin Heroes,” a series of cycling events held in Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi. The rides brought together people living with type 1 diabetes, their families, healthcare professionals, and cycling groups to promote awareness, inclusion, and access to quality diabetes care. The initiative reflected Meethi Zindagi’s mission to build an informed and empowered diabetes community across Pakistan with the support of various organizations.
Lahore, 9th November 2025 | Avari Hotel
The first event in Lahore brought together medical experts, peer leaders, and local cycling communities, including Gulberg Cycling Club and Kidical Mass Lahore, to promote type 1 diabetes awareness and importance of fitness and healthy lifestyle for its effective management. Medical Advisor and Executive Council Member at Meethi Zindagi, spoke on the importance of awareness for early diagnosis and shared his insights on management after diagnosis. Community Peer Leader, shared his powerful story on living strong with type 1 diabetes. Certificates, shields and medals were presented to guests and participants followed by Executive Council Member at Meethi Zindagi and Consultant Pediatric Endocrinologist at Shalamar Hospital, giving a heartfelt closing note.

Islamabad, 14th November 2025 | F-9 Park
The Ride for Insulin Heroes in Islamabad on 14th November brought together Early Bird Cycling Club, our type 1 champions and general participants to promote awareness about type 1 diabetes. The event was opened with a warm welcome and set the tone for the day. Executive Council and
Manager Peer Support and Education at Meethi Zindagi, highlighted the organization’s work and the importance of empowering people with diabetes by centering their voices in care and policy discussions.
The Project Manager for Promise of Insulin, shared insights into Meethi Zindagi’s medical care initiatives, including efforts to improve access to essential supplies and support services.The cyclist highlighted the role of cycling and regular activity in diabetes management, while Peer Leaders shared personal stories emphasizing resilience, empowerment, and peer support. The chief operating officer, honored the event with his presence and expressed appreciation for all the supporters and guests followed by certificates, shields and medals distribution.

Karachi, 16th November 2025 | Habitt City
The final ride in Karachi featured sessions by another executive board member, who spoke on comprehensive diabetes management and collaborative care, and key Clinical Advisor of Meethi Zindagi highlighted how accurate information, supportive attitudes, and empathetic communication can empower people living with diabetes. Community Peer Leader shared his personal journey of living confidently with diabetes, demonstrating how access to care and community support can enable an active and fulfilling life. Local cycling communities also participated enthusiastically, showcasing the role of cycling in
promoting health and bringing communities together.

Across Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi, the Ride For Insulin Heroes events demonstrated the power of collective action in raising awareness about type 1 diabetes. By uniting healthcare professionals, peer leaders, cycling communities, corporate partners, and families, Meethi Zindagi fostered awareness, encouraged healthy lifestyles, and amplified the voices of those living with the condition. These events reaffirm Meethi Zindagi’s commitment to education, access, and inclusion, delivering a unified message in each city: that a great life with type 1 diabetes is possible.
