PEER SUPPORT AND WELL BEING

Peer support is a powerful force that uplifts individuals facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of connection and understanding. Through shared experiences and empathy, peers provide invaluable emotional support, guidance, and encouragement. This uplifting dynamic creates a ripple effect, as those who receive support are empowered to uplift others in return, creating a supportive community that strengthens resilience and fosters growth.

D-Treats

Serving as informal gatherings for community members to stay connected and strengthen bonds, D-Treats provide an opportunity for individuals to share experiences, offer support, and foster camaraderie in a relaxed setting. Whether it’s a casual coffee outing, a picnic in the park, or a virtual hangout, meet-ups play a crucial role in maintaining a sense of belonging and solidarity within the community.

Meethi Chah

The concept behind Meethi Chah stems from research showing the impact of peer support on the physical and emotional well-being of people living with diabetes. Meeting others who are facing the same challenges and experiences, motivates and encourages people to keep going. These group sessions are conducted every month in different cities, where peers meet over a cup of tea to discuss life with diabetes, and go home feeling better that they are not alone!

Online Community

Peer support main page:
We are dedicated to providing a supportive environment for individuals living with Type 1 diabetes and their caregivers across Pakistan. Peer support is very essential in diabetes management as it provides inspiration, emotional reassurance, practical advice, and a sense of belonging. Connecting with others who share similar experiences can alleviate feelings of isolation and encourage adherence to treatment and positive behaviors.

In order to moderate our online peer support  platforms, we have volunteers known as peer / community leaders who are trained biannually for effective communication engagement.

Online Community:

In order to provide online peer support, we offer exclusive closed Facebook groups and WhatsApp community groups that are developed to facilitate open discussions.

  1. Facebook closed groups: Meethi Zindagi fb community has two distinct groups which serve as a safe space where members can discuss their experiences and daily life issues without fear of being judged.

In case you prefer to keep your identity confidential while sharing your story, you can post your concerns anonymously. For those who are not comfortable posting, they can still benefit greatly by learning through others’ experiences shared in posts.
