I am Muhammad Zubair Farooqi, and my life changed forever in 2017 when I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. The journey began with a terrifying diagnosis that saw me losing 10 kilograms in just one week. My blood sugar levels were so high that even my glucometer couldn’t provide a reading. Hospitalized for a week, my HbA1c level was a staggering 14.6. The prospect of a lifelong dependency on insulin loomed large, and my family and I were deeply concerned.
Amidst the uncertainty, Meethi Zindagi entered my life, transforming our worries into effective strategies for managing my sugar levels and overall health. The initial challenges were immense – from job interview rejections to enduring harsh comments about my diabetic condition. But I persevered.
My journey took an unexpected turn when I moved to Finland for my PhD studies. Here, I experienced the remarkable support offered by the Finnish government for Type 1 diabetes. All necessary medical supplies and glucose monitoring sensors were provided free of charge. ALHAMDULILLAH, my HbA1c level improved to 6.5, and today, I am leading a joyous married life with a 1.5-year-old child.
My path with Type 1 diabetes has been challenging, but Meethi Zindagi has made it more manageable. Grateful for the positive impact they’ve had on my life, I share my story with the hope of inspiring and encouraging others in their journey with diabetes.
