ACCESS TO MEDICINE
Though precise statistics for type 1 diabetes in Pakistan are lacking, globally, 100,000 to 150,000 of individuals with diabetes have type 1, relying on insulin for survival. This dilemma forces many parents to choose between insulin and food for their children. Our goal by 2030 is to provide life-saving insulin to 6000 children. Ultimately, we aspire to ensure unrestricted insulin access for all individuals with type 1 diabetes in Pakistan, fostering optimal health and well-being.
Promise of Insulin:
This program adopts a flipped model scholarship approach, ensuring children and young people with diabetes receive essential supplies delivered to their homes across 100+ cities & towns in Pakistan With approximately 1000 beneficiaries, we aim to mitigate the challenges caused by economic crises, political instability, and natural disasters. Despite facing around 50-60 new referrals monthly, our commitment to supporting education and self-sufficiency remains unwavering, thanks to the generosity of our donors.
Disaster Relief:
In 2022, Pakistan faced devastating floods, affecting one-third of the country and displacing millions. People with type 1 diabetes lost access to insulin due to destroyed homes and disrupted roads. Relief efforts, supported by Meethi Zindagi, Life for a Child, and Insulin For Life, provided door-to-door and camp-to-camp support, delivering insulin and healthcare services via special relief teams, and overcoming challenges like inaccessible locations with the use of boats.
